Fannies Barn, Bishop Road is on an Amish farm in St. Lawrence County. The austere foreground is not there. In truth the farm yard was a blur of activity, a wandering cow, 3 pairs of harnessed horses, about a dozen Amish children from 2 to 17 years all working the animals and chores on a Saturday in late July. I had permission to paint only and not the people and the animals. When the children stopped to see what I was doing, the comment was, "You been practicin'." The piece received second place in the Morristown Plein Air Festival.
